We have been retained by our client, an innovative and global leader in the medical devices sector, who is establishing a substantial new manufacturing start-up, to recruit a Head of Supply Chain.

This person will be responsible for all supplies and ensuring cost effectiveness and on time delivery of products and overseeing the work of a team of employees in logistics, warehousing, purchasing, supplier management and materials. He/She will cooperate with global supply chain and IT to implement supply chain system strategy and will manage the company procurement process, contract management for purchased materials and services.  He/she will ensure compliance in related processes, activities, system transactions and documentation, and operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review and establish production build and ship schedule in accordance to Master Planning Schedule and ensure requirements meet production build demand.
  • Ensure daily production schedule is executed per plan in order to meet demand changes. Report weekly and monthly performance to agreed plan.
  • Establish key project initiatives for planning/logistics implementation.
  • Manage raw materials and/or intercompany supplies and purchased components to avoid any disruption to operations. Ensure that purchasing process is in compliance with all corporate and external requirements.
  • Lead and train staff to ensure all shipment is executed timely and meet relevant customs regulatory requirements. Anticipate potential risk and resolve issues to meet shipment objectives.
  • Responsible for department and company strategic goals and initiatives. Develop a robust talent development plan in alignment with functional growth strategies of the department
  • Foster good working relationships between internal/external teams and suppliers. Collaborate with cross function team in validation and product transfer projects.

We require candidates with

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Material/Engineering/Business or equivalent.
  • Several years’ experience working in broad supply chain management positions (including planning, scheduling, procurement, logistics or demand management) in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device/pharmaceutical/chemical industry.
  • Demonstrated capability operating in and building cross-functional teams
  • Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to interface effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and work cross-culturally.
  • Proven background in planning
  • Experience in warehousing, logistics and a strong understanding of procurement.
  • Proven track record in supervision of planners and/or warehouse and transportation employees required. Operations management experience preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to operate, lead and thrive in a fast-moving team environment.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures and cost reduction techniques.
  • Knowledge in functionality of Material Requirements Planning; Enterprise Resources Planning systems, Warehouse Management systems.
